News from the Garden August 2020

We are now approaching Autumn and have missed our annual Barbecue. This year we have hardly had any public events for the Forgotten Garden, because of the risks of coronavirus.

Our Spring Jumble Sale and the May Bluebell event were cancelled. Now things are becoming clearer, we feel that holding an Annual General Meeting this year would not be sensible. The Committee has agreed that the 2020 AGM is postponed to 2021 when we will attempt to either run it in the spring or combine the two years. It isn’t ideal but we believe that this is the prudent answer to the circumstances where meetings in village halls have to remain Covid-secure. All the committee members have agreed to continue in their current roles for another year and annual subscriptions, which are now due have stayed the same for another year at £10 per person or Joint membership £15.

It has been pointed out that ticks are found wherever wild animals such as deer pass and the woodland garden is no exception so if you walk through it please check yourself and your dog for them and remove them at the earliest convenience by gently easing them off with tweezers around their mouth parts. Devon County Council has put warnings on their website, because it seems that the warm weather has led to more tick problems this year than usual.
